Yangshuo was by far my favorite place in China. I could have stayed an entire month in that little city and don’t think I would have every gotten over how beautiful everything is. The mountains are truly stunning and they make the place feel very magical. I almost felt like I was on a different planet!
Peter (our tour guide) continued on with us from Longji to Yangshuo and on our first day he took us bamboo rafting and biking. I really loved the bamboo rafting and wish that we could have done it for 2 or 3 hours and not just 1. I would schedule more time for that next time! We were on a bit of a time crunch, though, because we had a long bike ride ahead of us! Our bike ride was SO adventurous and Peter did a great job showing us around. We took tiny little dirt trails, busy freeways, bike paths, rode through fields, and walked our bike through patches that were too muddy for riding. I didn’t expect so much “off roading” but it really ended up being for the best because we saw some beautiful, untouched land.
We spent our second day riding scooters through the mountains of Yangshuo. It was by far my favorite day in China UNTIL my sister got in a little crash. She was riding on the back of our tour guide (different one, not Peter) when our tour guide blacked out for a second and ran into a big pile of dirt on the side of the road. They flew a couple feet into the air before landing on the side of the road. I was driving right behind them and was horrified when I saw them crash. I was prepping myself for the worst when I pulled up but miraculously they came away with only a few minor cuts and bruises. We were so glad that it happened during the last 20 minutes of our drive and not at the beginning of the day because we could all go home and relax afterwards- everyone was really shaken up EXCEPT my sister haha! What is a vacation without a good accident story, right?
