October 2017 in Pictures
October was such an amazing month for us! I really didn’t know what to expect for that first month with a newborn but it exceeded all expectations! I was really fortunate to heal really fast so I felt good getting out and about.
Matt and I are busy-bodies anyways so I’m glad we were able to get out with our little girl and really enjoy the fall and special time as a new family. I’m really feeling sad that the month is over now that it is November. October may go down as our best month of the year- but that won’t keep us from trying to top it 🙂One big bummer about being photographers is that we get really good pictures of each other individually but we never get any good ones of us together. I was pretty determined to change that without having to hire a photographer so we used a tripod and the self timer to get our first pictures as a family of 3. You can see the rest of them HERE.
General Conference was so cozy this year! We watched a couple sessions with family but we mostly just cuddled our little girl in bed while we watched (and caught up on sleep). It was a much needed weekend of rejuvenation- both physically and spiritually.
We took a LOT of drives up the canyon to enjoy the amazing Utah fall! The fall colors were on a whole new level this year! Matt and I also found a new favorite drive on Squaw Peak Road- close to the mouth of the Provo Canyon. The pictures below are from there. I just wish we would have discovered it sooner but I’m so glad we know about it for next year. Pictures from one of our beautiful fall walks along the Provo River. I absolutely love living so close to so much beauty. Utah is the best!
Adelyn has developed such a special bond with her Daddy and it just melts me to see these two together.
Addy and I have also spent a lot of time with Nana lately. We went to the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point, Jaker’s Pumpkin Patch, Gardner Village, shopped together, went to a BYU basketball game, and worked on a few little projects like sewing bows for Addy.
Living close to my mom again has been an enormous blessing- especially now with a newborn. I’ve learned so much from her about how to be a mom and she has been so sweet and patient with my new mother anxiety. I don’t know what we would do without her!
While living in Springville a couple years ago, Matt and I discovered Jaker’s pumpkin patch. We love it so much that we went 3 times this year and didn’t even get sick of it! It’s by far our favorite place to go because it has so many cute activities and it only costs $2. Yes, please. If you haven’t been there before, you should remember it for next year.
Maggie and Lucy adjusted to having a baby in the house WAY better than I expected! We were really nervous about having the two dogs and a baby in such a small space but it has actually been really great. The dogs LOVE her.
They aren’t allowed to touch her but they are always close by and sometimes Maggie sneaks in a little lick or two haha. I can’t wait for the day when we have an actual yard for them to hang out in, but for now we are making in work. Hallelujah!
Maggie also got a cute new haircut and I’m obsessed! I love the short all-over “Lab” look and lot more than the doodle look. She definitely prefers less of that hot hair as well.
We also got to spend a lot of fun time with family this month. A couple highlights were going to Matt’s cousin’s wedding and taking pictures of my older brother’s family.
October is also a special time because we got engaged on October 11, 2014. This time of year brings back so many fun memories of being engaged and all the excitement of planning a wedding! I feel like we look like babies in the picture below and it’s only been 3 years! And of course our month was FULL of this cute girl! We had her 2 Week and 1 month check up in October. She is growing like a weed (already 10+ pounds and in Size 1 diapers and 0-3 clothing) and is such a good baby for the most part! Addy is a champion nurser but doesn’t like it when I make her take a bottle.
Despite my continuous efforts she HATES her pacifier and its so funny to basically wrestle with her over it- me holding it in her mouth and her trying to spit it out over and over again. I’m always about to quit trying when she randomly takes it and it quiets her down or puts her to sleep right away 🙄.
Adelyn is also a pretty good sleeper which has been a big blessing! She only wakes up one time every night for a dream-feed and is usually a great napper as well. We haven’t had any other issues with her oxygen levels which has really helped me relax and just enjoy her sweet little face.
She loves baths, car rides, and staring at herself in the mirror during diaper changes. She has also recently started smiling a little bit and LOVES her daddy. If nothing else will calm her down, he will just put her on his shoulder and then she calms right down and usually just falls asleep. It’s so sweet!
Last one- here she is wearing the same dress I wore as a little girl. Dressing her up may be my favorite thing ever- especially if its in stuff I used to wear! Would ya look at those thigh rolls 😍We weren’t incredibly festive for Halloween this year but we did manage to get Addy in a Halloween onesie and threw a last minute party. We invited our group of friends over and played our favorite game Salem with everyone.
It almost felt like our good ol’ college days… just with a few more babies and a couple of dogs. I can’t believe we fit 9 people, 3 babies, and 2 dogs in our little space but the craziness added to the fun of it all.
Then the night of Halloween we ditched the trick or treaters and instead went out and got some Indian food at our new favorite place in Orem, Kohinoor, and played games with my parents. My idea of the perfect Halloween!
Now bring on November, pumpkin pie, family time, and all things Christmas!!!
