Adelyn Rose at 4 months
January 22, 2017- February 22, 2017
I’m starting to say this every month, but Addy just keeps getting more fun! She is honestly such a delight. I love spending my days with her, miss her when she sleeps to long, and can’t keep myself from kissing her cheeks 24/7.
All of the sudden, my baby doesn’t really seem like a baby anymore. She is growing so fast and constantly learning new things.
Things I want to remember about this month:
Started sleeping her flat on her back
Finger sucking and gnawing on her fingers
Starting to want everything in her mouth
Crying when she sees you walk away
Rocking in her nursery and reading Paddington Bear
Lip and tongue smacking
Look of pain and slight giggle when you try tickling her
Rolling over back to front- moving quite a bit from starting position
Hair all falling out
Sleeping on side- always wants her face smothered in a blanket 😩
Arching her back and looking away when in baby carrier- always wants to be observing her surroundings
Always smiles/ giggles when I squeak her elephant
How she naturally kicks while we play with her in the pool/ tub
Starting to acknowledge her puppies
Waking up so many times a night
Staring at her hands like they are the most amazing things
How she will just chill on our lap and watch everything around her
Struggles nursing anywhere but our bedroom because she gets distracted everywhere else
Blowing bubbles and all the saliva
4 month check up and shots.
Addy is a really easy-going baby and we are trying to keep it that way by exposing her to lots of different stuff! We took her swimming a couple times and she tolerated it. She has been a champ in the cold weather and does pretty good in her carrier but always wants to be facing out. We also took her to a couple dance competitions and she did great even though it was so loud! She was adorable in her little baby noise-cancelling headphones.
We had a lot of fun family time seeing the Midway Ice Castles, bowling, Sunday dinners, and time with Nana and Papa.
I bought this little dress for my future daughter when I taught English in Thailand back in 2012. It was really special to see that little dress on MY baby. Sometimes I still have to mentally process that I am a mom and that she is my baby. I’ve dreamed about this time my whole life. As a little girl I was always playing house and taking care of my dolls and dreaming about when I would get to be a mom.
Now I have a real life baby doll. And she is so cute it kills me!
Like I listed above, Addy has learned a few new tricks this month. She loves to grab at her tows, rolls over from back to tummy, puts everything in her mouth, is so interested in the world around her, has fuzzy, blonde hair growing in, sleeps flat on her back (she’s the freakin cutest sleeper), and squeals and jabbers all day long.
I think it’s so cute how Adelyn is starting to acknowledge other people as well. We got together with her little friend Macklin and they were adorable together. She also has gotten a little more snuggly as she has grown more attached to us and I love that! She really is just the sweetest little girl and we absolutely adore her.
