Adelyn Rose at 5 Months
February 22, 2017- March 22, 2017
This last month went by SO fast and all of the sudden my baby is 6 months old. Wow! I can’t believe how fast these last 6 months went, but at the same time, I hardly even remember what life was like before her.
Some stats from her 6 month appointment:
She weighs 16 lbs 2 oz (52%) is 26 inches long (72%) and her head size is still off the charts in the 96th percentile 🙃
Things I want to remember about this month:
-She was extremely determined to figure out her front-back roll over and finally got it midway through the month. Now she can happily play on the floor for so long without getting frustrated. She even started sitting up a little bit.
-Interested in grabbing/ eating everything, especially my water bottle (why???) She is a lot more into chewing on things so I’m expecting her first tooth to pop through in the next month or so.
-Blonde hair started coming in and now her head is so fuzzy! I love it!
-Tried solids for the first time- likes apples and carrots so far but still gags when it’s time to swallow.
-Sometimes she will kinda giggle at her toys but doesn’t laugh at us yet. Either we need to work on our humor or she is just a little late in the laughing game.
-Has her own little language of high pitch noises and grunts. She also loves to sing and often sings herself to sleep.
-Rubs her feet together and is constantly kicking. Keeping socks or shoes on this girl is a JOKE!
-Picks up her feet and drops them hard while she is sleeping- cute but so annoying since she still sleeps in our room.
-Still has a goopy left eye. I’m really looking forward to that clearing up.
– She got fitted for her tot collar which will hopefully help her torticollis.
-Loves playing little games like taking Matt’s glasses off over and over or putting her hand near my mouth waiting for me to nibble on her fingers.
-I started putting her in her crib during naps so we are finally using that nursery I put so much time and effort into. I know we should let her sleep in her nursery at night but she still wakes up so frequently and its much easier for me to just grab her right by my bed.
-More cases of stranger danger and wanting mom. I’m a little nervous about this because I feel like she is really young for this to be happening already. I get out a LOT with her and take her to gym daycare regularly so I felt like I was preventing it, but it seems to be getting worse regardless.-She is such an angel baby and hardly ever cries. I know exactly what she wants when she cries because it just means she is ready for some sleep. She gets whiny when she is hungry. Growls when she is frustrated. And has mastered some fake cry/fake cough hybrid when she wants attention. It’s so nice to finally know what she needs from her cues instead of playing the guessing game.
-Addy had two new friends born this month- Gemma Genessa Pontius and Kamryn Michelle Jex! She is a lucky girl to have these built-in girlfriends and it’s so fun to go from being high school best friends to now all having babies of our own. I can’t believe how HUGE Adelyn looks in comparison to those little babies.
-She HAS to be facing out in the carrier. We didn’t have one that would support her hips while letting her face outward so she would kink her neck and push away as far as possible to see what was going on. I obviously broke down and bought an outward facing carrier for our next trip.
-We had so much fun taking Addy on her first family trip! She did great on the airplane ride, in the hotel, and through all of the driving. Her nap schedule was interrupted and it was pretty cold part of the time so I don’t even blame her for the times she was kinda fussy. Overall it was a really fun time and I’m excited to do more trips with her.
-Adelyn started loving on her puppies this month and it melts my heart. She loves it when they lick her, loves to grab their fur and will just sit and watch them play.
-I feel like she is just starting to get on a good schedule with predictable nap length. Night times are still hit or miss, though. Sometimes she wakes up 10 times a night and sometimes its just 1 time. She has only slept through the night a couple times. Also, she looks like the sweetest little angel when she is asleep.
-Somebunny is ready for Easter!! I haven’t really done anything for her with any other holidays but I think I may get her an Easter dress and fill a little Easter basket for her. She is getting old enough to interact with things a little better so I think it would be fun!
Just a few other random pictures from this month 🙂
